A woman charged with harassing Kate McCann reportedly left her a recorded message which asked: "suppose I am Madeleine?"
Julia Wandelt, 24, who a jury heard has repeatedly asserted she was the vanished Madeleine McCann, and Karen Spragg are standing trial charged with pursuing Kate and Gerry McCann between June 2022 and February this year.
On Monday, the court learned communication data and evidence retrieved from phones recorded Ms Wandelt repeatedly requesting Madeleine's mother for a DNA test during that period.
Madeleine's disappearance in 2007 - at the age of three during a family holiday in Portugal - is considered the most covered child disappearance cases and remains unresolved.
A separate recorded message, played in court, recorded Ms Wandelt declaring: "I realize I'm overweight and unattractive like Madeleine was, but I believe what I feel."
While another instance of Ms Wandelt's recordings with Mrs McCann's answerphone expressed: "Imagine there is a small chance that I'm her? Then what? Wouldn't that be crucial for you?"
"I do not need money, I possess a living here in Poland, I simply desire to know," the recording stated.
The jury was informed that by means of emails, SMS messages and calls, Ms Wandelt asked for a biological test, transmitted early photographs to her phone in a attempt to show a likeness to Mrs McCann's disappeared daughter, and claimed to have "recollections" from a youth with the McCanns.
An intelligence analyst, an intelligence analyst with Leicestershire Police who compiled the evidence, informed the court there "didn't appear to be any responses" from Mrs McCann.
Ms Wandelt also contacted acquaintances of the McCanns, as per the communication logs.
On October 9th, 2024, Gerry McCann answered a phone call from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, saying she had "a wrong number."
During that incident Ms Wandelt left a message on Mrs McCann's recording declaring "I will persist and I plan to establish my claim."
The court learned the co-defendant established a connection via internet with Ms Wandelt before joining her on a appearance to the McCanns' home in that area in December 2024.
Call logs demonstrated Mrs Spragg had communicated via messaging service to Mrs McCann to state the news outlets had portrayed Ms Wandelt as "emotionally disturbed" but that she should be treated respectfully in the period before the trip to Rothley, Leicestershire, in December 2024.
The court was told message exchanges between the two individuals, in November 2024, considering endeavoring to obtain Mrs McCann's biological evidence from her garbage or from cutlery at a restaurant.
"We need to take action," the co-defendant told Ms Wandelt.
On the night of the appearance to their house, the defendant transmitted a communication which stated: "We find ourselves sitting outside the McCanns' home with our lights out resembling investigators. I wanted to achieve this with Peter Andrew I never thought I would be engaged in this with the McCanns."
The case continues.
